Treasurer- Sheila Carlson
Sheila joined us with almost 10 years experience on Sport Club Executives. Mom of a very talented athlete (GO DEV!) and understanding the important role organized sport plays in the development of children, Sheila was easily convinced to get involved (not sure though if it has anything to do with Jake making coffee on demand for her or not????). She is a financial guru and will make sure you get what you paid for!
Jake comes to us with over 25 years experience as a coach in both Grassroots and high performance programs. An avid cyclist and a 10 time Ironman finisher, Jake has devoted his professional life to coaching athletes in a variety of sports including water polo, swimming, triathlon, cycling, track and field and cross-country. He has coached athletes to international level competitions and served as a team manager for the Canadian Forces Triathlon Team for many years. He was named Coach of the year for the Canadian Forces in 1996. After his retirement from the CF, he devoted time and energy to developing a training system for endurance athletes based on the best research and tested it in the field. With the birth of his two sons, he has taken an interest in grassroots sports programs and long term athlete development. He brought the I Can Swim Program to the area which taught hundreds of children how to swim and gave them foundation to get involved in aquatic sports. He hopes to do the dame with Sprockids and cycling. Jake still maintains all his qualifications with the National Coaching Certification Program in Cycling and Swimming. Yes, he does make coffee for Sheila! Secretary- Brian Gauthier
Mr. Gauthier, as he is known by students in Pembroke, is the coolest teacher because of his fun filled approach to learning. As a gifted all-around athlete and coach, Brian brings a wealth of experience and background in education to Velocity and all of its programs, particularly to Sprockids.
