What is Sprockids?
The Sprockids Program was developed in British Columbia for students to improve mountain biking skills and empower today's youth to make positive choices. The program aims at increasing self-esteem all while pushing their limits, discovering their potential and learning valuable life skills.

Not only does Sprockids teach riding skills and bike maintenance, it also develops character, improves attitude, teaches nutrition and other things that influence choices for a healthy and balance lifestyle.

The Sprockid course is a series of 20 sessions of 90 minutes in length where kids learn everything from fixing and caring for their bikes to riding like pros...safely!

Sprockids is the only nationally recognized learn to ride program for children.

Junior Leaders Program

This summer Velocity Bike Club will be running 4 weeks of Sprockids Mountain Bike Camps. We are looking for reliable teens who are willing to take on the challenge of becoming junior leaders. To be eligible for this opportunity the student must take the Junior Leader course which will be offered in June 2012 and commit to at least one week of camp. During the Junior Leader course, the riders will learn and develop their biking skills, leadership skills and bicycle maintenance. During camp they will take on more responsibility assisting the instructors with day to day activities. Many members use the Junior Leader program hours toward the Ministry of Educations required 40 hours of community service, or use it as a way to develop a good reference for that elusive first job. The Ministry of Education has changed the guidelines and is now allowing students to begin accumulating their hours starting in the summer following grade 8.

The Junior Leader program will run every week of camp. If you or your child is interested in this program or would like more information please contact Alyson Wendorf at alyson@velocitybikeclub.com or call 613-629-5327.

L.I.T. - Leader in Training Program

Those riders who have graduated from the Junior Leader program and have completed the mandatory hours are eligible to apply to this program. Leaders in Training will be required to assist in the Junior Leaders course that will run in June 2012. This will refresh their skills and allow them to mentor the incoming Junior Leaders.

The Leaders in Training will be required to help facilitate a minimum of one camp and a maximum of four, depending on their availability and number of campers. Leaders in Training can continue to work towards their community service hours and eventually become full fledged instructors.

If you or your child is interested in this program or would like more information please contact Alyson Wendorf at alyson@velocitybikeclub.com or call 613-629-5327.

Children's Fitness Tax Credit

  • Substantially all of the activities must include a significant amount of physical activity that contributes to cardio-respiratory endurance plus one or more of:
